exploring santiago
Santiago has turned out to be bigger and more fast paced than we expected. Chileans speak the fastest spanish in latin america...so, yeah, spanish lessons are good. As far as sightseeing, we´ve taken a funicular to the top of Cerro San Cristobal, which is only a 25 min. walk from our neighboorhood (santiago centro)...great views from there, on a clear day...you can see how huge santiago is and there are mountains in all directions.
We´ve also been to Cerro Santa Lucia, which is in the center of the city...seems that this is the make-out capital of chile...good place to publicly get it on, apparently.
Also, our teacher took us on a tour of the Mercado Central, which is enormous, and has just about everything you would EVER need...cool fruit, vegetable and fish markets...tons of variety.
We´ve not really eaten out a lot, due to our tight wadedness, but we did have lunch at the Cafe Geometrico in Barrio Lastarria on sunday, and it was really delicious, and a fair price.
More later. We´ll be exploring more outside of Santiago in the coming weeks...Ąchao!
