Costa Rica continues
Monte Verde the hike is excellant bring your umbrella, your rain poncho and trash bags for any expensive camara equiptment. When we finally got there after the worst road in the world, I felt like a big overdressed Coloradan with my hiken boots my backpack full of stuff. You know what I may have looked overdressed but we were the best prepared thats for sure. Alot of tourist were wishing they had our supplies and infact some of them wouldnt dare to hike during the rain. What a damper on thier plan. We saw many spiders here, heard howlers for the first time, walked with our head in the clouds. Wowee what an extreeme feeling I had it was so magical. Expect to get muddy wet and wear a jacket its about 70 or less when it rains. On the way back we ran into torrential rains I have never been in this type of situation. Driving on primitavie dirt roads in a 2 wheeler with small drainage rivers to cross mud galore and I followed the SUV as long as I could for pointers. We did survive. It was awesome.
We went through small towns were people had hardly anything just a shack with their land and chickens. Some were farmers and some were little communities. The trees along the green hills were wind blown to one side it was weird. What a peaceful place this is place I never want to leave. I want to move here. On to Tilaran where we ask for directions and still get lost teh guy comes after us full speed on his bicycle to guide into teh right direction. We followed him on his bicycle for about 5-6 block to the right direction. He was very nice to have gone out of his way for people who are tourists and he doesnt even know. What a great guy helpful thats for sure.
We went on through Tilaran back on to hwy 1 into Liberia on the way was a famous grass fire and I started noticing that there is something behind every turn. We saw tin roofed shacks, we saw nice adobe style homes, we also saw hammocks along a roadside stand. I though they must take turns who sleeps or camps out at the stand. That is the family business how creative. Selling fruit on the side of the road must be an old profession. Finally just about 9p we arrived at our homebase. The Occidental Allegro Papaguayo resort. This was very elegant and I was real tired and grubby looking when I checked in but I still felt higher ranking than all the other clean and pressed tourists among me glaring at my messy head monte verde torn up wind blow look. Im a module for Monte Verde Misters.
