Cairo Fun

Visa's into Cairo are $15 US and you can buy them when you get to the airport at one of the banks.

The pyramids are the best feature as everyone knows, and there are plenty of camels or horses, or you can walk, or drive. Cost was 50 LE (current exchange = $11.6 US each (there was four of us) for 3 hour tour, guide, and camel guy and entry to a tomb. Entry was 10 LE (LE = Egyptian pounds), but we knew a guy, and you should alway not take the first price, always barter, but be FAIR of course!! Entry to Mohammed Ali Mosque, which is near the (CITADEL) City of the Dead, is also 10 LE.

Taxi's are not expensive for locals but are for expats, so barter BEFORE you get in. Consdiering you might not speak any arabic, 25 LE will get you pretty much anywhere. Airport taxi's are VERY expensive.....have a bike waiting!!!!

The Metro is usefull, and is very cheap, the most anywhere it will cost you is 75 piasters (there are 100 piasters in 1 pound), BUT it is quite busy and you need to look for the stations. I don't even know where they are.

Cairo Museum is next door to the Nile Hilton, and the museum has armed guards and metal detectors, so no metallic items. That goes for all the hotels as well they have the same security. I'm think entry was 20 LE but don't quote me.
